People from all over the world call themselves Dublin

You will find that Dubliners are welcoming and among the friendliest people in Europe. We enjoy a diverse representation of cultures from around the world, as well as the best of Ireland’s culture and society. Our vibrant, multicultural population and rich cultural scene with world-class facilities and minds in literature, art, music and design have fostered a population that is also talented and creative. ers.

Since the 1990s, Dublin has seen an infusion of cultures from around the world thanks to immigration.

Many of Ireland’s newest residents have relocated from countries throughout the European Union, particularly the United Kingdom, Poland and Lithuania. Our newest arrivals have also come from further afield, particularly China. In fact, we have people from some 188 countries calling Dublin home, an important asset for multinational companies locating their international operations in and around the city.

The city’s population is also young. Almost 50% of Dublin’s population is under the age of 25. Dublin also boasts the highest proportion of science graduates of any other European Union member state, making it one of Europe’s most skilled capitals. Nationally, Ireland is ranked first among EU member states in terms of third level education and the availability of skilled labour, and third in terms of the highest proportions of maths, science and computer graduates in the European Union (MD Worldwide Competitiveness Yearbook 2011).
