Every day, animators in Dublin are developing content for television, film, mobile apps, and games. The Irish animation industry is a growing sector of the country’s economy, with over 1,000 technical and creative staff employed at world class studios across Ireland. With government support for the arts and generous tax incentives, the digital and creative economy in Ireland is well positioned to continue to grow and prosper.

Many of Ireland’s world famous animation studios and animators are based in Dublin.

They have world class talent and technical skill to create stunning and award winning traditional, 2D, 3D and flash productions of any scale.

Brown Bag Films has been based in Dublin since 1994. It produces cutting-edge animation and their award-winning productions are showcased around the world. The company has collaborated with Disney, Nickelodeon, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Irish broadcaster RTE, and other broadcasters and studios. Brown Bag Films has created Academy Award-nominated films and British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA)-nominated television series.

Another of Dublin’s most successful animation companies is Boulder Media. Launched in 2000, the company develops animated content for viewers in international markets. Boulder Media has completed projects for the Cartoon Network in the United States, Nickelodeon, the BBC, and Disney Europe. Productions created by the studio have been nominated for an Emmy and an ANNIE, animation’s equivalent to an Academy Award. Animators with Boulder Media have also been nominated at the IFTAs, the RTS Awards, the British Academy Children’s Awards, and the Broadcast Awards.
